Who we are

Greater Manchester Victims’ Services is commissioned by Greater Manchester Combined Authority, which is jointly run by the ten Greater Manchester councils and the Mayor of Greater Manchester.

Deputy Mayor, Kate Green, takes responsibility for this service.

Greater Manchester Victims’ Services is a free signposting and referral service run by not-for-profit business and registered charity Catch22.

Catch22 has designed and delivered services that build resilience and aspiration in people and communities since 1788, when it was originally formed as The Philanthropic Society.

We’re not the police. To contact or report a crime to Greater Manchester Police, call 101 or visit the website. In an emergency, always call 999.

If you’d like to report a crime anonymously, contact the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

You don’t need to have reported the crime to access our services.

What to expect

One of our experienced and professional Victim Care Coordinators will talk to you about your situation and find out what your needs are. We can do this over the phone.

Depending on what you’re most comfortable with, we can then either meet with you in person or continue to support and advise you by phone.

We’ll let you know if there’s another organisation or service more suited to delivering the support you need, for example a specific kind of counselling or specialist advice. We’ll either refer you or make the initial contact on your behalf.

We can:

• provide emotional support to help you cope and recover from your experience
• give you information and practical advice
• act on your behalf (advocacy) when dealing with police, housing or other agencies

If you choose to receive face-to-face emotional support from us, we can do this at your home, at one of our local branches or in an outreach centre near you.
